The Bainbridge Island School District posted a letter of notice to the parents of Ordway Elementary School pertaining to the high levels of lead in the drinking water. In response, the Park District’s leadership commissioned testing of all facilities with city water on Tuesday March 1, 2016. Those facilities included the Aquatic Center, Teen Center, Island Center Hall, and the Waterfront Park Community Center. The water testing results came back on Thursday March 3, 2016 and were presented at the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District’s public board meeting that evening. The testing results stated NON detectable levels of lead, meaning the water is safe for drinking. Any questions or comments can be directed to 206-842-2306.
