As we head into the next season, I’m excited to share what’s coming up and highlight some of the great work happening across our parks and programs.

We’re looking ahead to a full lineup of fun and familiar events, along with a few new ones mixed in. Our Winter Concert Series begins February 12 with the Kareem Kandi World Orchestra. This intimate concert series will be held at historic Island Center Hall—a cozy setting perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. We hope you’ll join us!

Plans are also underway for a Spring Carnival on May 2, welcoming the return of spring with a day of entertainment, play, and community fun. Our Summer Concert Series and Movies in the Park are set, and we’re looking forward to those warm-weather days. These events are all about bringing people together, and we can’t wait to enjoy them with you.

Our recreation programs are going strong, and it’s been great to see so much enthusiasm and participation from the community. We’re proud of the programs we offer and appreciate everyone who signs up, shows up, and helps make them successful.

We’ve also made some big behind-the-scenes improvements. Our digital Recreation Connection catalog has been very well received, and we’ve completed our conversion to new registration software that makes registration and communication smoother for everyone. A new website is launching soon, merging the Parks, Aquatics, and Recreation Center websites into one, and we’re excited about how it will improve access to information and resources.

On the facilities side, several projects are moving forward. ADA transition planning projects are launching, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to participate and share feedback. We’re excited to complete the new bathroom at Battle Point Park, replace the soccer field surface, complete the pickleball court conversion this spring, repair the roof at the Eagledale Pottery Studio, and install a new heat pump at Strawberry Hill Center. We’ll also continue working with our user groups to make ongoing improvements to our ball fields.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement—it truly makes a difference. We’re looking forward to a busy, fun, and connected season ahead.
