Dynamic Aging Program
Dynamic Aging is what we’re calling the call to reshape what growing beyond fifty or sixty represents. Many of our current cultural behaviors are the result of what aging looked like 100 years ago. Do you know most of us will spend a third of our lives ‘post-retirement’? We think it’s time to take a fresh look at what this Third Age really can and should be, and we call that Dynamic Aging.
To that end, we are developing a new thread of programming that reflects an optimistic challenge to do this ‘aging thing’ better. We’re starting with an exciting community conversation this winter. You are invited to join us for a facilitated discussion of new ideas and research on the topic. The gathering is free, and refreshments will be provided. Start the new year out with a shot of inspiration and challenge!
We think many folks might be interested in discovering more once they’ve experienced the Gathering, so we’ve developed a whole-day conference that will extend the conversation. We have two international speakers joining us at the Clearwater Events Center to share all the best new thinking about how to age with purpose and pizazz. We’ll have an abundant resource fair of opportunities for service, education, travel and FUN ~ Everyone will be invited to leave with at least one new actionable idea about how to refine their life plan!
Post-conference, we’ll be sharing a whole new slew of programs developed by the Park District that haven’t been published in the current catalog. Be on the cutting edge of great new ways to connect, engage and contribute!
DYNAMIC AGING COMMUNITY GATHERING
Our first conversation will take place at the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center on Wednesday, January 23 from 9:30 until noon. Meet up with old friends and new, watch a provocative Ted-Talk or two, and think about how we might all be able to improve the way we are all growing older, both individually and as a community! All refreshments and materials are free-of-charge.
- To reserve your seat, please take a minute to register for Activity #166119-01.
- If for some reason you can’t make it that day, we’re doing it all again on Friday, February 22, same time and place. That Activity number is 166119-02.
DYNAMIC AGING SUMMIT
This all-day conference will extend the conversation to include some of the newest research and trend-setters. Whether you are looking for a dose of inspiration, want access to wonderful new local resources, or want help advocating for social improvement, this event is where you want to be.
The Dynamic Aging Summit will be held on Friday, March 29 2019 at the Clearwater Events Center. Free shuttles will be running from the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal all-day to make the trip easier for those of you traveling from the Seattle-side. We’ll begin with a Suquamish welcome at 9:00a, and spend the morning learning from experts AND one-another. The lunch buffet is included, and the afternoon will include lively presentations, interactive sessions and a resource fair. Our hope is that all participants will be leaving with a new trajectory for their future when we conclude at 5:00p.
