Dear Community,
This month, we began our 2026 budget discussions with our first work session on October 2. A key focus for this upcoming year is Phase 2 of the Ray Williamson Pool project—an investment that will help preserve this cherished facility for the long-term needs of our island. Just two years ago, the pool was facing imminent failure, and it’s encouraging to see how far we’ve come. Through careful planning and fiscal responsibility, we’ve been able to address those challenges.
This year’s capital budget will also be shaped by the valuable feedback we received through the Comprehensive Plan surveys, community meetings, and other public input opportunities.
As we continue updating our Comprehensive Plan, your thoughtful feedback will guide our next steps. Thank you to everyone who participated in meetings and surveys—your input helps us focus on what matters most, from enhancing existing parks and facilities to expanding trail access and connections across the island.
You may also notice a change this winter season: our Recreation Catalog has gone digital! This shift enables us to share program information more efficiently and sustainably while continuing to provide the same great opportunities our community looks forward to each season.
On October 2, we honored our former Executive Director, Terry Lande, with a small dedication ceremony for the Lande Administration Building. The event brought together community members who shared stories and celebrated the Park District’s many accomplishments over the years. Moments like these—seeing people engaged, exchanging ideas, and celebrating the parks and programs they love—remind us why we do this work. Your energy and support continue to inspire us every day, and we’re grateful to have such a passionate community by our side.
Warm regards,
Dan Hamlin
Executive Director
Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District
