Youth & Teen Camp Director

Compensation: Paid staff training and orientation, free use of the Aquatic Center, and 50% employee discounts on District classes during the summer quarter.  6 step pay scale starts at $16.74/hour.  Pay determined depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Status: Part Time – non-exempt, Seasonal, Non PERS eligible
A Camp Director is responsible for designing and implementing camp activities and instruction, managing a group of six to twenty-four youth participants and up to 6 employee counselors, assessing and mitigating potential hazards, and overseeing camper safety. Additionally, Camp Directors market their camps and communicate with the public, camp families, and campers. Experience leading a variety of recreation activities, group facilitation, and working with children is strongly preferred.

Senior Park Aides – various positions available in horticulture, maintenance and trail crews

Hours: Mostly week days but some weekends and evenings – 30 to 40 hours per week

JOB DUTIES:  Duties may include:  Mow and maintain lawn area; maintain athletic fields; assist with construction projects; clean park grounds; assist with planting and care of trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf areas and other duties as assigned.

Lifeguards

Job Summary: The Assistant Sailing Instructor is responsible for helping with the safety and group management of four to twenty participants while out in the field. The Assistant Sailing Instructor is accountable for helping to plan and execute each day’s sailing lessons, instructing students, assessing potential risks, utilizing sound judgement, addressing and documenting maintenance and medical concerns, and serving as a role model. Experience sailing a variety of dinghies, operating small motor boats, basic sailboat/motorboat care, and ability to bond a group of kids together during a week-long program and make their experience fun and memorable is strongly preferred. Qualified Assistant Sailing Instructors with a proven track record are often afforded opportunities to lead classes under the guidance of a Sailing Instructor or the Sailing Camp Director.

Compensation: Paid staff training, free use of the Aquatic Center, employee discount on many District classes, and sick leave per WA state law. Starting wage $12.82/hour to $14.14/hour DOE. Hours are dependent upon programs meeting minimum enrollment.

Mountain Biking Program Leader

Job Summary: The Mountain Biking Program Leader is responsible for the safety and group management of four to thirteen participants while out in the field, instructing mountain biking technical skills, rider safety, trail etiquette, pre-trip communication, coordinating trip logistics, utilizing LNT and other environmental friendly practices, cooperating with other staff, proactive risk management, and overseeing medical concerns. This position requires extensive experience mountain biking, teaching groups, and operating in remote backcountry settings.

Compensation: Paid staff training, free use of the Aquatic Center, employee discount on many District classes, and sick leave per WA state law. Starting wage $15.51/hour to $17.10/hour DOE. Hours are dependent upon programs meeting minimum enrollment.

Camp Counselor - All-Day Explorer Camps

Hours:                         Week days, some weekend hours. Camps run fall, winter, spring and summer.
Supervisor:                  Recreation Program Manager

Duties: The Camp Counselor works with children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old, in BIMPRD All-Day camps under the supervision of a Camp Director.  As directed by the Camp Director, the counselor may be responsible for assisting, leading and organizing activities and games with the Camp Director and/or other camp counselors.

Wage: 7 step salary scale starting at $12.82 + per hour.  Starting wage DOE

Benefits: Discount on most Park District classes and free pool pass while employed for employee and dependents.  Sick leave per Washington State law.
