Assistant Swim Coach

Duties: This position would assist primarily with our 10 & Under groups; duties may evolve based on the individuals’ skills. This position primarily works with the Bainbridge Island Swim Club. Responsibilities of the coaching staff include deck hours, assisting with events, attending swim meets and team functions, season planning, and assisting with planning and implementing a successful swim season. Additional administrative duties will also be necessary, such as tracking athletes’ progress and email communications of the organization of team documents. Additional hours are available to work with the Bainbridge Aquatic Masters team. This would include an additional time commitment of 3-4 hours per week. Responsibility includes communication, lesson planning, and understanding adult athletes’ unique physical skills and limitations.

Qualifications: Strong understanding of the sport of swimming and the rules and regulations. A sound knowledge of stroke mechanics and training/teaching techniques. Three or more years of competitive swimming experience. Ability to obtain all relevant USA Swimming coach certifications before the start date. Two or more years of coaching experience preferred.

Wage: 12-step salary scale: $23.47 to $32.49 per hour. Starting wage DOE.

Recreation Assistant — Paddling

Responsibilities: The Paddling Recreation Assistant is responsible for helping with the safety and group management of four to 12 participants while out in the field, assisting with the instruction of kayaking, standup paddle boarding, canoeing technical skills, participant safety, utilizing LNT and other environmentally friendly practices, cooperating with other staff, proactive risk management, and addressing any medical concerns. This position requires experience in kayaking, canoeing, standup paddle boarding, and rescue technique skills. Experience working with youth groups, working while out on the water, and the ability to bond a group of kids together during a week-long program and make their experience fun and memorable is strongly preferred. A qualified Paddling Recreation Assistant with a proven track record may be afforded opportunities to lead classes under the guidance of a Paddling Recreation Program Leader.
