Full Time Positions

Facility Maintenance Technician

The Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District’s jurisdiction encompasses picturesque Bainbridge Island (population 24,000) within a 30 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, Washington and access to the Kitsap Peninsula via bridge.

We are looking for a highly innovative, passionate, motivated, and team-oriented person who can share our desire to work hard, play hard and live well. The selected candidate for the Facility Maintenance Technician position will function as the operating engineer with responsibility for multiple pools, facilities, HVAC and aquatics systems, day-to-day pool maintenance and operations, supervising janitorial and maintenance staff, trouble shooting problems, safety, water quality, project management, emergency services, and overall assistance in overseeing a 30,000 sq. ft. community aquatic center/indoor water park. Applicants should have five years related electrical, mechanical, equipment, and operating engineer related experience with skills in safety, planning, and project management. Requires Associate Degree and/or operating engineer related training, or equivalent experience and training supplemented with continuing education.  Requires current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent certifications.

This is a full time, exempt position with benefits including vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, state retirement program (PERS) and a robust medical and dental plan.

The position’s 12 step salary scale ranges from $4,175-5,779/mo.

Part Time/Seasonal Positions

Recreation Assistant – Fall Youth Soccer Referee/Mentor

Posting Date: August 2, 2018

Hours: Saturday mornings, 9:00am to 12:15pm
Supervisor: Sports Program Manager

Duties: Setting up and breaking down soccer fields, instruct students ages 4-9 in basic soccer skills and game rules, oversee and referee modified soccer scrimmages.

Wage: 7 step salary scale starting at $12.10 to $15.44 per hour. Starting wage DOE.

Gymnastics Weekend Instructors

Location/Division: Gymnastics
Status: Part Time – nonexempt

Hours: will vary but will typically be 2 to 4 hours per day, Friday evenings, Saturday morning-early evening, Sunday midday-evening.

Job Summary: The Gymnastics Department is looking for fun and energetic people 18 and up for weekend programming. We run birthday parties for kids ages 1-14, Open Playtime for ages 6 months-5 years old and Open Gyms for ages 6 and up. Experience in gymnastics is a plus, but not necessary as we will train candidates who have the right personality and ability to have fun.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the gym during Open Gym and/or Open Playtime
  • Perform housekeeping tasks and put away equipment
  • Run birthday parties – instruct participants on gymnastics

Qualifications: 

  • CPR/first aid (will train if not current)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation: $12.78 to $17.05 D.O.E.

Job Summary: The Gymnastics Department is looking for fun, energetic and upbeat instructors to teach compulsory team level gymnasts and recreational classes.  Must have coaching experience with girls JO levels 3-5 and/or Xcel, and be able to work with ages 2 & up. Also teach Gymnastics Classes for children from toddlers to adults. Applicants need to be available to work day, evening, weekends. A background in, or prior experience teaching gymnastics, cheer and/or dance is desired. This is a Part Time position with potential growth, especially for candidates with experience coaching competitive level gymnastics. This position is also eligible for the state’s PERS retirement plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach gymnastics to beginning through advanced and competitive level participants
  • Perform housekeeping tasks and put away equipment
  • Fill out progression cards and certificates
  • Communicate with parents
  • Create lesson plans

Qualifications: 

  • CPR/first aid (will train if not current)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation: $13.03 to $17.07 D.O.E.

Aqua Fit Instructors

Join our highly trained and dedicated team of instructors at Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center. We offer a variety of classes ranging from river fitness, deep water and strength/flexibility classes.

Qualifications: AEA Certification or comparable, CPR/AED certified, 18 years old, excellent customer service skills, embody an enthusiastic and energetic attitude, team oriented.

Compensation: Paid staff training and orientation, free use of the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center, and 50% employee discounts on many District classes.  6 step pay scale starts at $15.48/hour.  Pay determined depending on experience and qualifications.

Lifeguards
