The Ray Williamson Pool, a beloved community resource on Bainbridge Island, is undergoing much-needed rehabilitation to ensure its continued service for years. This project aims to address key infrastructure challenges and improve the overall experience for all who use the facility.
The project has been underway since summer 2024. It will be completed in stages to minimize disruption. The pool will need to close to complete the project’s second phase. The anticipated closure date is March 10, 2025. The Don Nakata Pool has maximized its schedule to accommodate the closure. You can see the planned schedule here.
The rehabilitation will include extensive upgrades to the pool’s structure and systems. The most significant improvements will be to the pool deck, which will be resurfaced to enhance safety and accessibility, and a new, energy-efficient HVAC system will be installed to maintain optimal air quality and temperature control.
The rehabilitation project will also focus on essential repairs to the pool’s mechanical and filtration systems, which are critical for maintaining water quality and efficiency. This will help reduce the long-term operating costs and minimize environmental impact. Additionally, a refreshed and more functional facility layout will ensure better flow and easier access for users, particularly those with disabilities.
Ray Williamson Pool has been a cornerstone of the community since its opening, and these upgrades reflect the growing demand for recreational and fitness options on the island. The improvements will not only extend the life of the pool but will also improve the experience for swimmers, families, and fitness enthusiasts alike.
With this investment, the Park District is committed to providing a high-quality aquatic facility that will serve the community’s needs for many years.
