Warm up your winter evenings with Sounds of Winter, a NEW intimate concert series hosted by the Park District, celebrating local music and community connection. Held at historic Island Center Hall, this four-part series brings you close to the music in a cozy setting perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.
Each performance features different talented regional artists sharing original songs, inspired instrumentals, and seasonal sounds that capture the beauty of winter in the Pacific Northwest. Bring friends and settle in for a soulful musical experience.
February 12 The Kareem Kandi World Orchestra
Led by saxophonist, composer, and educator Kareem Kandi, the orchestra draws on his vast experience as a performer who has earned acclaim for his work in jazz, blues, classical, and funk. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Kareem’s versatility as a saxophonist and composer has taken him across the U.S. and around the globe, captivating audiences and critics alike. Known for his ability to honor the traditions of the past while forging new creative pathways, Kareem’s compositions and unique arrangements of timeless American standards continue to push musical boundaries.
February 26 Sue Jane & Steve Bryant
Violist Sue Jane Bryant and violinist Stephen “Steve” Bryant bring a wealth of orchestral and chamber music experience to their performance. Between them, they have performed with major ensembles including the Seattle Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Malaysian Philharmonic, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, and more. Sue Jane’s international career and orchestral leadership blend seamlessly with Steve’s energetic musicianship and adventurous spirit. Together, they offer an engaging, expressive performance shaped by their shared artistry and deep musical connection.
March 12 Tracie Marsh Band
Tracie Marsh is a versatile bassist and vocalist with a degree in bass performance from Washington State University. She has performed internationally, held the principal bass chair with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, and spent several years playing major production shows on cruise ships. Since settling in Poulsbo, she’s become a sought-after performer, composer, and collaborator, leading her own pop-soul-jazz project and contributing to a range of bands and studio work.
March 26 Karin Kajita Quintet: Life & Music of Duke Ellington
The Karin Kajita Jazz Quintet with vocalist Angela Petrucci present The Life and Music of Duke Ellington. On the cusp of the 100-year anniversary (1926) of Duke opening at the Cotton Club in Harlem for a celebrated 6-year run, join us to hear a musical presentation of Duke’s music chronologically and with narrative, from his first job at 16 playing in a soda fountain in D.C., to tours around the world with the Duke Ellington Orchestra.

Special Events Lost & Found Procedure
Any items of value (not broken, damaged, unusable, etc.) left at any particular event location found by park and recreation staff shall be picked up and kept to return to the owner. All items found shall be taken to the Aquatic Center for a maximum of three weeks. They will be kept there for a minimum of three weeks before disposing of them. After three weeks, they shall be bagged up and taken to a local donation center.
