As we head into a busy and exciting season, I want to take a moment to share a few updates from across the Park District.
Our new Sounds of Winter concert series will come to a close next week with the March 26 performance, Karin Kajita Quintet: Life & Music of Duke Ellington. This inaugural series has been a great success! We’ve seen strong attendance and received terrific feedback. It’s been great to see our community come together to enjoy these performances, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s series.
We’re also making progress on several key projects. Bids for Phase 2 of the Ray Pool Rehabilitation project have been received, and we are working through the process of awarding the contract and developing a construction schedule. As always, we’re taking the time to ensure the selected bid is both responsive and responsible. In addition, the Battle Point soccer field turf replacement project is scheduled to begin June 8 and will continue through July.
Behind the scenes, our staff are hard at work preparing for a full spring and summer season. I want to extend a sincere thank you to our Recreation team for their efforts in putting together another great catalog of programs and activities. I encourage you to take a look and register! We have a lot of fun and exciting activities.
We’re looking for folks to join our staff in a variety of ways to support our spring, summer and fall programming. Join us at our Job Fair on April 20th to learn about all the positions we’ll have available. We’ll be at the Aquatic Center between 2-5p. Hope to see you there!
Finally, we’re excited to launch our new website on April 2. This updated site brings Parks, Recreation, and Aquatics together in one place, making it easier to find what you’re looking for. You’ll notice a streamlined top navigation, a helpful search feature, and alerts prominently displayed on the homepage. While the look is new, the registration process remains the same—just accessed through the new site.
Thank you for all you do to support our parks, programs, and community. I hope to see you out enjoying everything the season has to offer.
See you out there,
Dan Hamlin,
Executive Director
