As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, our dedicated teams are hard at work ensuring our parks are ready for a busy spring season. From pruning trees to building new amenities, here’s a look at the many efforts underway to enhance our community spaces.
Grounds Team: Braving unpredictable spring weather, the Grounds Team tackles essential maintenance across our parks. This includes pruning trees to promote healthy growth, mulching flower beds and dog parks, and preparing ballfields between rainstorms to ensure they are in top shape for upcoming games and practices.
Facilities & Maintenance Team: Our Facilities & Maintenance Team has been busy with critical site maintenance projects. At Rotary Ballfield, they’re making necessary repairs and improvements to the playground and snack shack, while over at Strawberry Hill Park, construction is underway on a brand-new batting cage. These efforts will enhance the park experience for athletes and visitors alike.
Trails Team: Trail maintenance is in full swing as crews work to clear organic debris, cut back overgrown vegetation, and launch this year’s trail-building projects. Keeping our trails accessible and well-maintained ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience for hikers, runners, and nature lovers.
Volunteers: Community involvement is key to keeping our parks vibrant and welcoming. Volunteers are stepping up in force, hosting numerous work parties focused on removing invasive species and celebrating Earth Month with meaningful stewardship activities. Our volunteers’ contributions significantly impact our parks and natural spaces.
Seasonal Hiring: With spring arriving, we are excited to announce seasonal hiring opportunities! Positions are available for our Student Conservation Corps (SCoCo) programs, Trails Crew, and seasonal Park Aids. These roles offer a great way to get involved, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the health and beauty of our parks.
We appreciate the dedication of our staff and volunteers as they work diligently to prepare our parks for another fantastic season. Whether you’re visiting for a walk, a game, or a volunteer event, we hope you enjoy all the beauty our parks offer!
