Tucked away on Komedal Road, Seabold Hall stands as one of Bainbridge Island’s most cherished historic gathering places. Built in 1893, this vintage community hall has been serving Island residents for well over a century, offering a warm and character-filled setting for connection, celebration, and shared experiences.
Seabold Hall began its life as a schoolhouse. In 1893, eighteen Seabold families petitioned the county to establish a local school, with land donated by John Johnson and construction funded by $700 in bonds issued by the district’s first directors. The school quickly became the heart of the community, hosting not only classes but also funerals, bazaars, church services, and Sunday school. Even after the school closed in 1928 following district consolidation, the building continued its role as a community hub under the stewardship of the Seabold Community Club.
In 2011, ownership of Seabold Hall was transferred to the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District, ensuring that this historic space would be preserved and continue to serve the entire Island community for generations to come.
Today, Seabold Hall remains a charming and versatile rental venue. The 1,400-square-foot main room features hardwood floors, wood-paneled walls, and a high ceiling that reflects its historic roots. Amenities include a pull-down projector screen, a piano available by request, a separate kitchen with basic appliances, folding tables and chairs, and a single ADA-accessible restroom. With a maximum capacity of 80 people and on-site parking, the hall is well-suited for meetings, classes, celebrations, and small community events.
Whether you’re planning a gathering or simply appreciate local history, Seabold Hall continues to embody the spirit of community that has defined it for more than 130 years.
